Kiddle - the Google that is safe for kids !

Parents and educators, all over the world, are dealing with the globalization and the internet advances, in classrooms, and out of them. We can all tell that, the internet, is a great way for kids to learn and spend their time, getting knowledge and for filling their curiosities about the world, about life.

So... the first step must always be to talk about internet safety with the children.
And then, give them some resources and guide them through the better choices that they can make on the online world.

For researches, we have Kiddle!

This search engine, that uses Google Custom Search, presents a new, improved way for kids to make safe searches  on the internet.

Kiddle filters sites with explicit or deceptive content, making some family friendly searching results.

The results also have some kids-oriented webpages, which means that, some results were checked by Kiddle editors. We can also see some big thumbnails that differentiate the most appropriated results to the query, and some large Arial font, that provides better readability for kids.

So, you can see that, this site, is made for kids, to visually appreciate it, and for parents, and teachers to rely on.

But remember: once they move from the search to some other websites, the control and the restrictions that Kiddle can make, are no longer available. Kids need to be warn about posting personal information online, such as name, age, school, address or phone number, even with their friends. And to sum it all up, kids need to trust some adult to talk about something they saw online, or that they want to understand, or that made them uncomfortable.

Give them some space, but always be on top of things!

Have some safety researches!
